Our first CLASSmate of the week came to my attention as I watched him try a difficult DWI case in Paterson Municipal Court. His meticulous attention to detail, coupled with a brilliant defense strategy, dramatic cross examination and passionate closing statement, compelled me to introduce myself and congratulate him on his exquisite advocacy. A friendship was born and the admiration has grown ever since.
Whether he is creating new case law (see State v. Romano) or applying his encyclopedic knowledge of bankruptcy law to save homes, apartments, or automobiles for the less fortunate, his presence in the legal community elevates the public’s perception of all attorneys.
For twenty three years Mr. Kane has served the profession and the public with integrity, passion and distinction. Whether Mr. Kane is coaching his son’s team or protecting the interests of his clients, he does it all with grace and a smile.
His accolades are many, from Dean appointed Rutgers University undergraduate positions, to a leadership position in the New Jersey Municipal Court Attorney Network and in the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys. He has preserved the financial dignity and liberty of countless clients, while serving their land use, litigation, appellate, real estate and estate needs. Mr. Kane also served on the New Jersey Supreme Court, Fee Arbitration Committee, District XI, Passaic County for four years. In his final year in 2003 he was appointed as abd served the District XI Chairman.
I am proud to be his CLASSmate and the legal community is enriched by his presence.
We present this award with great appreciation.
